Michelle has proudly served as YCSA's first Executive Director for ten years. Under her leadership, YCSA has become a respected and valued partner in our community.
With Social Justice as a theme throughout her career, Michelle's areas of expertise include HIV/AIDS, Addictions, Minority Health Disparities, Women's Health, and, High-Risk Youth. Understanding the forces and systems that shape the conditions of people's daily lives has guided her work. Identifying the social determinants of health - the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age - has been an outline of how to successfully implement programs and change to better the lives of those in need.

Michelle and Wally Schauer enjoy their three grown-up children and their families, which include five grandchildren. Her grandmother names are Grammy, Grannie, and Honey.

Meet the Team

Donald joined YCSA 14 years ago, driven by a desire to serve his community through non-profit work. In 2012, fresh out of college with a BFA in Studio Art and working at a local art gallery, he found his true calling at YCSA. Donald began his journey as a cashier, but his dedication quickly moved him into the role of Thrift Shop Manager within his first year. Over time, he expanded his impact by adding Operations Manager to his responsibilities. For Donald, the most rewarding part of his 14-year tenure is being an integral part of an organization that provides vital, often life-changing support to so many neighbors in our community.

Maureen has been a vital part of YCSA for 13 years, carrying on a deeply meaningful family legacy. Her father served as the food pantry's very first manager, a role later filled by her mother, before Maureen proudly stepped into the position herself. Today, she manages both the food pantry and the YCSA community supper, making service a true family affair alongside her children and grandchildren who volunteer. Her absolute favorite part of her work is creating an environment where every neighbor feels genuinely welcome, comfortable, and respected. Maureen is deeply grateful to lead these essential programs, keeping her family's spirit of giving alive while nourishing the community every day.
